John Delaney Assails Trump Over Illegal Executive Action on Census Citizenship Question

FRIENDSHIP HEIGHTS, MD: Reports indicate that President Donald Trump will announce an illegal executive action on the 2020 U.S. Census today, pursuing his fight to include a citizenship question despite being rebuffed by the Supreme Court.

John Delaney releases the following statement:

"The President’s disregard for both the rule of law and the separation of powers is a threat to the foundations of our government and is an effort to concentrate power in an individual, which is the root of tyranny. Continued attacks on our institutions erode public trust and weaken our democracy.

Mitch McConnell should stop enabling the President and stand up to him and defend the Constitution. The Court was very clear in its ruling, the citizenship question will not be on the 2020 Census, any efforts to usurp their authority should be met by swift action from the Congress.”
